The Independent Federation of
Chinese Students and Scholars in USA (IFCSS) was founded on August 1st of 1989 when over 1000 Chinese student
representatives from more than 200 major US universities held their
First Congress of Chinese Students and Scholars in USA at the
University of Illinois at Chicago. The
mission of IFCSS was to promote democracy in China and to protect the
interests of more than 40,000 Chinese students and scholars studying in the United
States then, as a response to the June 4th event in 1989. Since
its birth, IFCSS had became one of the most influential overseas Chinese
students groups in history. It had lobbied successfully in US Congress,
organized the well-known "Washington March for Chinese
Democracy" in 1989, and united tens of thousands of Chinese
students for many years.
全美中国学生学者自治联合会
(简称全美学自联)
成立于1989年8月1日在芝加哥召开的第一届全美中国学生学者代表大会，美国200多所著名大学的中国学生会的1000多名代表参加并组织了大会。全美学自联的宗旨是促进中国民主进步、和保护当时在美国学习的4万多中国学生学者的利益。
全美学自联是第一个民主选举领导人的全国性中国人组织，全美学自联是在美国国会游会上创造了历史记录的中国人利益集团，全美学自联是在美国首都组织了最大型中国人集会游行的团体，全美学自联是最早运用网际网络予社会动员的非盈利集团之一。全美学自联曾经创造了许多历史记录。时至今日，全美学自联的名字依然在中国和美国有巨大影响力。 This
